Monday 30. January 2012, 5.10 - 5.40 P.M.
Friis Arne Petersen, Denmark's Ambassador to China (former Danish Ambassador to the US, 2005-2010).
Friis Arne Petersen will discuss the forthcoming scenario that in a few years the Far East will be the world's largest economy and the US will remain the world's largest military power. These two countries will be more mutually and economically dependent on one another than any other economies have ever been in history. How should they work together? Are future wars and armed conflicts ruled out? Or are trade wars themselves actually out of the question in the future, because everyone has so much to lose? In this competition between superpowers, Europe must find out what new role it should play. How can we accomplish this?'
